Sphingomyelin supplementation also reduces insulin levels [MD: −0.63, 95% CI: (−0.96, −0.31), *p* = 0.0001] and HOMA-IR [MD: −0.23, 95% CI: (−0.31, −0.16), *p* < 0.00001]. Additional benefits include increased muscle fiber conduction velocity and reduced diastolic blood pressure.
